COMEBACK DRIVE FOR ANTÓNIO FÉLIX DA COSTA SEES JAGUAR TCS RACING ON THE PODIUM AGAIN IN MONACO

Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa claimed a remarkable third‑place finish in Round 10 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Monaco.

Despite the Jaguar TCS Racing #13 starting second on the grid, the Portuguese driver was spun round by Mahindra’s Edoardo Mortara on the first lap and dropped to P16. Clever strategy and decisive overtakes, however, saw António surge back through the field and onto the podium, his third of the season, in an incredible comeback drive at the Monaco E‑Prix. The result moves António up to sixth overall in the Drivers’ standings.

Jaguar TCS Racing team‑mate Mitch Evans was just behind after a strong drive to finish fourth, extending his Drivers’ World Championship lead to 19 points from eventual race‑winner Nissan’s Oliver Rowland. Jaguar TCS Racing also holds a 24‑point lead over Porsche in the Team’s standings, increasing their advantage following both races in the Principality.

Another strong qualifying performance from the British team saw both Jaguar TCS Racing I‑TYPE7s progress through to the Duels in Qualifying, with Mitch finishing P3 in Group A and António P4 in Group B, respectively. Mitch lined up on the grid for Round 10 in P7 after missing out at the Quarter‑Finals stage to Mortara, while António made it all the way to Final before losing out to Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum and started on the front row.

On the opening lap of the race, António was hit from behind by Edoardo Mortara, forcing him to spin out and the Portuguese driver re‑joined the pack in P16. While frustrating, the team and António remained patient and maximised the strategy by deploying both ATTACK MODE activations in the latter stages of the race, which enabled the Jaguar TCS Racing #13 to decisively carve his way through the field to incredibly take the lead. 

Although unable to fend off Rowland, Mortara and Andretti’s Felipe Drugovich in the closing stages, a time‑penalty for the Mahindra following the first‑lap clash with António promoted the Jaguar TCS Racing driver back into the top‑three for a well‑deserved podium.

After making it through the opening stages unscathed, Mitch took an early ATTACK MODE to snatch the lead of the race, extending his advantage even as the pack jostled behind. Despite the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 dropping back when others took their ATTACK MODE deployments, a gutsy drive saw Mitch retain his top‑five position.

After taking a late second ATTACK MODE deployment, Mitch fended off those behind him, including narrowly avoiding a collision with DS Penske’s Taylor Barnard as they approached Portier corner with two laps to go, to finish the race strongly, and was further rewarded by moving up to fourth as a result of Mortara’s aforementioned penalty.

Mitch heads to the next round in Sanya, China, next month (20 June 2026) atop of the Drivers’ standings, with Jaguar TCS Racing leaving the Principality at the head of the Teams’ World Championship. Jaguar is second in the Manufacturers’ standings with 269 points, 12 adrift off leaders Porsche.

Wow ‑ what a rollercoaster of a race! It’s been a weekend full of ups and downs but to finish it with a podium in Monaco is a great feeling. Being spun around on the opening lap was tough to take, but I kept my head down and focused on the end result. The strategy was great and I was able to make some important overtakes to climb back up the field to take the lead. I couldn’t quite hang on for the win, but a podium is a great result. It could have been more, but to finish third and fourth overall is a fantastic result for Jaguar TCS Racing.

Overall it’s been a strong weekend. Today I scored good points again but felt I could have had more. We made the call to go early with a six‑minute attack, which meant I then had to manage energy in the mid‑phase of the race and lost track position. I’ll look at that with the team, but I’m happy to be leaving Monaco with the World Championship lead.

To come away from two races at Monaco with both drivers having stood on the podium, Mitch leading the drivers’ standings and Jaguar TCS Racing leading the teams’, is awesome.

“The race today was always going to be incredibly difficult strategically, and that job was made even harder when António was spun round on the first lap. Both he and his team stayed calm, and to then see António come through to make P3 was incredible and testament to his strength of character after yesterday.

“For Mitch, I understand why he’s a little frustrated not to score more points today ‑ but a fourth place to back up his second place yesterday means he’s in a super strong position in the Championship with seven rounds to go.

The British team will be led by new Team Principal Ian James, who has previously overseen two Drivers’ and Teams’ ABB FIA Formula E World Championship victories for the Mercedes‑EQ Formula E Team and led NEOM McLaren to their historic first Formula E win in 2024. 

Jaguar TCS Racing have also confirmed a long‑term commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by signing to participate in the GEN4 era, set to commence in 2026 and running through seasons 13‑16.    
   
Beyond its all‑electric concept, Formula E is unique in the world of motorsport for its choice of venues. The 2025/26 World Championship will see many events take place on temporary street circuits in the centre of the world’s major cities including, São Paulo, Jeddah, Tokyo and Monaco. Additional new venues include Miami and Madrid, with the season finale again set to play out across a double‑header race weekend in London.    

As an official manufacturer team in Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing designs its own powertrain, which includes the motor generator unit, transmission, inverter, and rear suspension. Jaguar, via its long‑term Formula E technical partner Fortescue Zero, will also supply Envision Racing with its powertrain for the GEN3 Evo era.    

To control costs, the carbon fibre chassis and battery are common components and the same for all teams. This allows the focus to be on developing efficient and lightweight electric vehicle powertrains which will improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.    

Formula E remains a key priority for JLR and the company’s Reimagine strategy. As the premier all‑electric world championship, Formula E allows the team to test and develop new electric vehicle technologies in a high‑performance environment. It continues to be the test bed for the team’s Race to Innovate mission that will see Race to Road and Road to Race learnings that will help shape Jaguar’s all‑electric future.
