- Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa scored a strong second‑place finish in Shanghai, Round 12 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
- António climbed from fifth on the grid to secure second place ‑ his fourth podium for the team – in tricky conditions as rain fell at the Shanghai International Circuit
- The result moves the Portuguese driver up to third place overall in the Drivers’ World Championship standings
- Jaguar TCS Racing driver #9, Mitch Evans, retains the lead of the Drivers’ Championship after finishing eighth in China
- The Kiwi had earlier put his Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 on the front row in qualifying
- Jaguar TCS Racing still lead the Teams’ World Championship with five rounds remaining of Formula E Season 12
After starting from fifth on the grid in Shanghai, the Jaguar TCS Racing #13 driver managed to battle his way into the lead pack in the early stages. After taking his mandatory PIT BOOST stop and navigating a brief Safety Car period as rain began to fall, Antonio held onto second position through the ATTACK MODE phase to secure his fourth podium finish for the British team.
It’s also António’s third podium finish in Formula E around the Shanghai International Circuit, and it moves him up to third in the Drivers’ standings. The Jaguar TCS Racing #13 driver was awarded an additional point for fastest lap after Mahindra's Edoardo Mortara received a post‑race time penalty, meaning he is just 21 points off team‑mate Mitch Evans who remains in the overall lead after finishing Round 12 in eighth place.

Earlier in the day Mitch, Jaguar TCS Racing #9 driver, expertly put his Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 on the front row for today’s race, narrowly pipped by Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein to pole position. Mitch then raced in the lead group in the opening stages of the E‑Prix but, suffering from low grip which was exacerbated as track conditions worsened, he dropped back. After rejoining in tenth place after his mandatory PIT BOOST, Mitch battled hard using ATTACK MODE to help him secure that eighth place finish and four crucial points to keep his Drivers’ championship lead over race winner Wehrlein.
Jaguar TCS Racing’s total of 22 points from Round 12 means they retain the lead of the Teams’ World Championship with a 24‑point gap over nearest rivals Porsche. Jaguar remains second to Porsche in the Manufacturers’ standings.
I am thrilled to come away with second place and another podium for Jaguar TCS Racing. It was a crazy one, especially when the rain came, but the team got the strategy spot on. After getting up to the front before the conditions worsened, we managed to stay there after the pit stop and secure an important podium.
“We've shown we can be quick in both the wet and dry in Shanghai, so we're looking forward to coming back for more tomorrow.

After almost putting the car on pole, clearly that was a disappointing race. From turn one I felt like I had very little grip, and it didn’t improve as the race went on.
“We know the car is quick ‑ we showed that pace in qualifying and Antonio in the race ‑ so we’ll look at the data and reset for tomorrow.

Firstly, before we get to the race, credit to the whole team for the way they handled the schedule change today which saw an incredibly early start for everyone and a very compressed timetable.
“On the track ‑ fundamentally we clearly have a very quick car here in the Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 with Mitch qualifying on the front row and Antonio fifth.
“In respect of the race, congratulations to Antonio who drove superbly in very
difficult conditions to a strong second place which moves him up to third in the Drivers’ World Championship.
“Mitch I know is frustrated that his qualifying pace didn’t translate to the race, but he retains the lead of the Drivers’ Championship and I know he and his engineers will be working hard overnight to ensure that we put ourselves back in the fight tomorrow.
