TOM DILLMANN AND JOEL ERIKSSON CONTINUE THEIR ROLES AS JAGUAR TCS RACING TEST AND RESERVE DRIVERS

6 December 2024

Jaguar TCS Racing have today announced that Tom Dillmann and Joel Eriksson will both remain as test, reserve and simulator drivers for the team for the 2024/2025 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

  • Jaguar TCS Racing confirm test and reserve driver line‑up ahead of the 2024/2025 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
  • Tom Dillmann remains with Jaguar TCS Racing for the fifth season
  • Swede Joel Eriksson will continue to support the British team for the third year
  • The 2024/2025 season of the all‑electric World Championship begins in São Paulo this weekend

Dillmann and Eriksson’s focus will include simulator support at the team’s headquarters in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. Their efforts helped Jaguar TCS Racing secure the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship – Jaguar’s first motorsport world title since 1991 – as well as the inaugural Manufacturers’ Trophy.

Along with providing support to the Jaguar TCS Racing team as reserve driver in Season 10, Eriksson also contested both races of the Berlin E‑Prix for Jaguar’s customer team, Envision Racing, with a best finish of ninth.

Eriksson raced in Formula 4, Formula 3 European Championship and DTM before competing in the Formula E rookie test in Marrakesh for DS Virgin Racing in 2018.

The Swedish 26‑year‑old went on to be named the official test and reserve driver for Dragon Racing in 2019 and took part in his second Formula E rookie test. He made his debut in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at the 2021 Puebla E‑Prix for Dragon Penske Autosport and then finished the final seven races of the season for the team.

Alongside Eriksson will once again be experienced reserve and test driver Dillmann. The Frenchman has been a vital member of Jaguar TCS Racing for the previous four seasons. Dillmann has been racing since the early 2000s and has competed in around 300 races during that time. The 33‑year‑old’s career highlights include being crowned champion of the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 series and 2010 German Formula 3. Dillmann is no stranger to Formula E having competed in 23 E‑Prix since 2017 with the Venturi and NIO Formula E teams.

Eriksson and Dillmann continue with Jaguar TCS Racing alongside the team’s world‑class driver line‑up of Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy.

We are very pleased to extend our relationship with Joel and Tom. Both have made valuable contributions to Jaguar TCS Racing since they joined the team and their efforts in helping us securing the Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturers’ Trophy in Season 10 were hugely important.

“Our reserve, test and simulator drivers are pivotal to the team’s success and so it is great to be working with Tom and Joel once more.

ABOUT JAGUAR TCS RACING

Jaguar returned to racing in October 2016, becoming the first luxury manufacturer to join the all‑electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

In 2024, Jaguar TCS Racing won the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship, Jaguar’s first World Championship win since 1991. Jaguar also won the newly created Manufacturer’s Trophy with the I‑TYPE 6 – Jaguar’s all‑electric GEN3 Formula E race car.

Jaguar TCS Racing drivers Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy finished second and third respectively in the 2024 Drivers’ World Championship. Both Mitch and Nick will compete again for Jaguar TCS Racing in Season 11, as Formula E moves into the GEN3 Evo era. Spanning Seasons 11 and 12, GEN3 Evo will see further technical advancements to the world’s only net carbon zero all‑electric race cars including new powertrains and the adoption of all‑wheel‑drive in certain phases of qualifying and racing.

Jaguar TCS Racing have also confirmed a long‑term commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by signing to participate in the GEN4 era, set to commence in 2026 and running through seasons 13‑16.

Beyond its all‑electric concept, Formula E is unique in the world of motorsport for its choice of venues. The 2024/2025 World Championship will see many events take place on temporary street circuits in the centre of the world’s major cities including, São Paulo, Tokyo and Monaco. Additional new venues include Miami and Jeddah, with the season finale again set to play out across a double‑header race weekend in London.

As an official manufacturer team in Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing designs its own powertrain, which includes the motor, transmission, inverter, and rear suspension. Jaguar, via its long‑term Formula E technical partner Fortescue Zero, will supply Envision Racing with its powertrain for the GEN3 Evo era.

To control costs, the carbon fibre chassis and battery are common components and the same for all eleven teams. This allows the focus to be on developing efficient and lightweight electric vehicle powertrains which will improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.

Formula E remains a key priority for JLR and the company’s Reimagine strategy. As the premier all‑electric world championship, Formula E allows the team to test and develop new electric vehicle technologies in a high‑performance environment. It continues to be the test bed for the team’s Race to Innovate mission that will see Race to Road and Road to Race learnings that will help shape the electric future – a future that Jaguar is passionate about, and dedicated to for the benefit of our society, the changing landscape of mobility, sustainability and our clients.

Through our Race to Inspire mission, Jaguar TCS Racing are committed to inspiring the future generation by using the race programme to create a positive impact on our planet and the communities in which we race. From competing in the world’s first net zero carbon race car to supporting and training the next generation of engineers and motorsport professionals.
