JAGUAR TCS RACING HEAD TO THE FORMULA E SEASON FINALE IN LONDON LEADING BOTH THE TEAMS’ AND DRIVERS’ WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

15 July 2024

The 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will draw to a close this weekend, as Jaguar TCS Racing return to their home race in London for what will be a thrilling end to an action‑packed season.

  • Jaguar TCS Racing head to the ExCeL in London for the season finale of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this weekend
  • The British team currently lead the Teams’ World Championship by 33 points, with a season‑to‑date total of 322 points
  • Jaguar TCS Racing’s Nick Cassidy leads the Drivers’ World Championship with 167 points, with teammate Mitch Evans in second on 155 points
  • This will be the fourth time Formula E has competed at this unique venue
  • Lights go green at the 2024 Hankook London E‑Prix at 17:00 on 20 and 21 July

The British team, currently with 322 points, are aiming to convert their 33‑point lead into victory and become Teams’ World Champions, after finishing as runners‑up last year.

To date, this has been Jaguar TCS Racing’s most successful season since entering the all‑electric World Championship in 2016 having already exceeded their previous record points and podiums totals. The 322 points scored going into London is also more than any team has previously achieved in a full season.

Drivers Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans currently hold first and second respectively in the Drivers' World Championship with just 12 points between them.  The 2023 London E‑Prix saw Mitch Evans take Pole position and the win in Round 15 with Nick Cassidy doing the same in Round 16 (whilst driving for Jaguar’s customer team, Envision Racing), so the team expect the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 to be competitive again.

“I am extremely proud that we go into the final race weekend of the 2024 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with Jaguar TCS Racing leading both the Teams’ and Drivers’ World Championship standings. We’ve been consistently quick this season and the whole team have worked incredibly hard to get us to this point.

“For the last four seasons we have gone into the final weekend in a position to fight for the Drivers’ or Teams’ Championships, and we are excited to be fighting for both titles again. Our 2024 campaign has seen us achieve our biggest points haul to date and alongside our customer team, Envision Racing, we’ve achieved 16 podiums so far matching last season’s total. This shows how competitive the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 is, and how dedicated both teams have been to maximise its potential. With just two rounds to go in London, we are very much looking forward to racing on home soil and will give it everything we have.

James Barclay
Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal

London is always a great track and I’m excited to return. Leaving Portland in second puts me in a great position for London, just 12 points from the top spot, so it’s given me a boost of confidence for sure. I’m determined to maintain a strong position for the team too and that we finish the weekend taking the Teams’ World Championship title. It’s going to be a hard, but we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got.

Mitch Evans
Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #9

I’m looking forward to returning to London – it’s one of my favourites of the season, especially after winning there last year. Portland was tough for me but I’m feeling positive having maintained my lead in the Drivers’ World Championship. Bring it on!

Nick Cassidy
Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #37

ABOUT JAGUAR TCS RACING

Jaguar returned to racing in October 2016, becoming the first luxury manufacturer to join the all‑electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship street racing series.

In the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Jaguar TCS Racing finished runners‑up with 292 points – the team’s biggest points haul in Formula E.

Mitch Evans finished third in the 2023 Drivers’ World Championship with 197 points, his biggest points haul in Formula E, and continues to compete for the team in 2024. Nick Cassidy joins the team’s driver line‑up for the 2024 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The 2023 season saw all teams race with the Gen3 car, the world’s first net zero race car. Jaguar TCS Racing continues to race with the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 in 2024.

Beyond its all‑electric concept, Formula E is unique in the world of motorsport for its choice of venues. The 2024 championship will take place on existing tracks and temporary street circuits in the centre of the world’s major cities including Mexico City, Diriyah and Monaco, with new locations including Tokyo and Shanghai. The season finale will play out across a double‑header race weekend in London.

As an official manufacturer team in Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing designs its own powertrain, which includes the motor, transmission, inverter, and rear suspension. Jaguar, via its long‑term Formula E technical partner Fortescue WAE, will supply Envision Racing with its powertrain for the Gen3 era.

To control costs, the carbon fibre chassis and battery are common components and the same for all eleven teams. This allows the focus to be on developing efficient and lightweight electric vehicle powertrains which will improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.

Formula E remains a key priority for JLR and the company’s Reimagine strategy. As the premier all‑electric world championship, Formula E allows the team to test and develop new electric vehicle technologies in a high‑performance environment. It continues to be the test bed for the team’s Race to Innovate mission that will see Race to Road and Road to Race learnings that will help shape the electric future – a future that Jaguar is passionate about, and dedicated to for the benefit of our society, the changing landscape of mobility, sustainability and our clients.

Through our Race to Inspire mission, Jaguar TCS Racing are committed to inspiring the future generation by using the race programme to create a positive impact on our planet and the communities in which we race. From competing in the world’s first net carbon race car to supporting and training the next generation of engineers and motorsport professionals.
