António made some crucial overtakes in the early part of the race and then battled hard with Cupra Kiro’s Dan Ticktum in the closing stages after his PITBOOST stop to claim the final step on the podium. The result moved the Portuguese driver up to fifth overall in the Drivers’ standings in his debut campaign for Jaguar TCS Racing.
After starting from third on the grid, teammate Mitch Evans’ chances of progress were compromised by strong defending from Porsche’s Nico Muller in the opening laps. A combination of great strategy and strong pace from the Jaguar TCS Racing #9 driver in ATTACK MODE after his PITBOOST stop ensured Mitch got ahead of Muller, his attention then turning to closing down the gap to leader, Pascal Wehrlein, also of Porsche.
A Full Course Yellow on Lap 21 then negated Mitch’s progress, with a number of drivers ahead, including Wehrlein, also making their mandatory PITBOOST stop during this period and consequently losing much less time.
That ensured the Kiwi dropped to the lower reaches of the top 10, but Mitch fought hard to ensure he finished in eighth at the chequered flag, thus still in contention for the Drivers’ World Championship in the season finale tomorrow (Sunday 16 August). Mitch (148‑points), Jake Dennis (Andretti, 164‑points) and Wehrlein (Porsche, 169‑points) are the three drivers all still able to claim the title.
Round 17 and the final race of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will take place on 16 August at 15:05 BST.

It is a bittersweet feeling ‑ it is always good to be on the podium and I was able to make some overtakes to make progress in the race. Unfortunately, the FCY totally scuppered Mitch's race so we were unable to maximise our full pace and the result for the team at home. It is a tough one and I feel for him, but we just have to attack the final race in a positive frame of mind, make sure we qualify strongly and get it over the line tomorrow.

Today things clearly didn’t go my way. Nico held me up in the first part of the race so we took PITBOOST early to counter that which was the right thing in the circumstances. The FCY that followed then just compromised me completely. I’m still in it though, so the focus now is on qualifying well tomorrow then we move forward from there.

A tough race today, though strategically the team did everything right in the circumstances.
“With Mitch being held up in the early part of the race it was the right call to bring him in for PITBOOST early ‑ the Full Course Yellow that followed simply being incredibly unfortunate for him. In contrast, the FCY helped Antonio, and he fought exceptionally hard to secure a well‑deserved podium spot.
“I really feel for Mitch today ‑ but he’s absolutely not out of the title fight. Tomorrow will see his last race for the team after an incredible ten years, and everyone will be doing all they can to maximise his chances for a great result as he fights for the Drivers’ Championship. We’re still leading the Team’s standings of course, and we’ll be doing everything possible to secure that title for the second time.
