Mitch Evans delivered another standout drive, charging from P16 on the grid to an exceptional P4 at the flag. After navigating the early stages of the race and climbing steadily through the pack, Evans executed a perfectly timed PIT BOOST and managed his energy with precision. A late six‑minute ATTACK MODE deployment allowed him to surge forward, consistently holding more usable energy than the cars ahead. In the final lap, Evans overtook the DS Penske of Taylor Barnard to secure fourth place ‑ a result that elevates him to the lead of the Drivers’ World Championship heading into the second race of the Tokyo E‑Prix tomorrow (Sunday 26 July).
Mitch Evans now sits at the top of the Drivers’ standings with 144 points, while António Félix da Costa holds fifth with 113 points.
António Félix da Costa showed strong pace throughout the first half of the race, starting P3 and running firmly in the lead group with excellent efficiency. Despite suffering contact on lap one and later being forced into the wall which dropped him out of the points, da Costa mounted an impressive recovery. Holding his PIT BOOST longer than most of the field, he climbed back through the pack with a late ATTACK MODE to finish P9. His resilience ensured Jaguar TCS Racing secured a valuable double‑points finish, extending their Teams’ Championship lead as they head into the final three races of the season.
After a composed and strategically disciplined night race in the Japanese capital, Jaguar TCS Racing also extend their lead in the ABB FIA Teams’ World Championship, now 20 clear of Porsche.

After qualifying I knew it would be a tough race today, but we really put our heads together as a team and delivered a fantastic race strategy. It was hard to execute but it was a really flawless race. We know where we didn’t maximise qualifying today so hopefully we can start closer to the front of the grid tomorrow.

Today we had really strong pace, our race car was efficient, and the team were delivering a fantastic strategy. I was really happy with the position we were in, and I thought we could fight for the win. But unfortunately, the pack slowed down which opened the door for Wehrlein to come through and I ended up in the wall. This compromised our race today, but we’ll come back fighting tomorrow.

That was the type of race that makes Formula E so compelling. When the flag dropped after 36 laps of action, Mitch had driven from P16 on the grid after a difficult qualifying to a fighting P4 ‑ a result that sees him retake the lead of the Drivers’ Championship.
“For Antonio, he was on the other end of fortune. He was driving a strategically smart race, never dropping below fourth position, when contact from Pascal Wehrlein forced him into the wall just after the mid‑way point of the race. Pascal was penalised, but Antonio’s race was ruined ‑ his recovery to a P9 finish shows just what a competitor he is. Now we look to tomorrow, and what will be a very different race with no Pit Boost and two ATTACK MODEs.
