JAGUAR TCS RACING CELEBRATE DAC-TO-DAC WINS AND TEAM 1-2 AT THE MADRID E-PRIX

21 March 2026

Jaguar TCS Racing delivered a landmark performance at the inaugural Madrid E‑Prix, securing a dominant 1–2 finish at the historic Circuito de Jarama on Saturday 21 March 2026. In a race packed with strategy, resilience and precision, Antonio Félix da Costa claimed victory in what was his 150th Formula E start and only his sixth race with the team. The win marks Jaguar TCS Racing’s 25th triumph in the championship, extending their lead as the most successful team in Formula E history. It also makes da Costa the first and only double‑race winner of the season, following his victory last time out in Jeddah last month.

  • Jaguar TCS Racing’s António Félix da Costa won his 150th Formula E start, becoming the season’s first double‑race winner.
  • Mitch Evans charged from P16 to P2, delivering a masterful energy‑managed drive to secure a team 1‑2 team finish.
  • Strategic excellence defined the race, before the last few laps propelled Jaguar TCS Racing to a dominant result and strong championship momentum.
  • Jaguar TCS Racing will next hit the track for the Berlin E‑Prix double‑header and Rounds 7 & 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2‑3 May 2026.

Mitch Evans charged from P16 on the grid to second place, securing Jaguar TCS Racing’s first 1–2 finish since the Monaco E‑Prix in Season 10. His drive was a masterclass in energy management and race craft, carving through the field with patience and precision. By the closing stages, Evans held a decisive energy advantage over the cars around him, enabling him to climb from ninth to the podium places in the final laps and ultimately sweep past Pascal Wehrlein to secure P2 on the penultimate lap.

Despite a clean getaway for both drivers, early contact on lap three forced da Costa wide and dropped him to seventh. Undeterred, he fought back to fifth by lap five and executed a perfectly timed early PIT BOOST at the end of lap 11. The strategic call allowed him to undercut the field and emerge as the effective race leader once the pit cycle unfolded. Evans, meanwhile, used the fallout from the pit window to leap forward, briefly leading the race before taking his own stop on lap fifteen.

From there, da Costa reclaimed the lead with a decisive overtake on Max Günther on lap 17 and maintained his advantage even while taking attack mode. With both Jaguar drivers holding more usable energy than their closest rivals, the final laps became a showcase of the team’s strategic strength. Evans surged into the podium fight, overtaking Wehrlein for third and then climbing to second with a lap to go, while da Costa held firm under intense pressure to take the chequered flag.

The Madrid E‑Prix will be remembered as a defining moment in Jaguar TCS Racing’s 2026 campaign ‑ with three wins from the opening six rounds and the only 1–2 finish of the season so far, the team leaves Spain with a powerful momentum for the remaining races ahead.

What a day. To win my 150th Formula E race start, at a brand‑new event here in Madrid, and to do it with Jaguar TCS Racing in front of so many of my friends and family is something I’ll remember forever. The race was far from easy ‑ after the contact early on I had to stay calm, reset, and trust the strategy. The early stop paid off perfectly, and from that point I felt in control. The fight in the final laps was intense, but the car felt fantastic and I had the confidence to hold the lead. Huge congratulations to Mitch as well ‑ bringing home a 1‑2 for the team is the perfect way to cap off the weekend.

ANTÓNIO FÉLIX DA COSTA
JAGUAR TCS RACING DRIVER #13

Starting P16 is never where you want to be, but I knew if I managed the energy well and stayed patient, we could make something of this race. The car felt great all the way through, and once we got into the second half of the race, I could really start attacking. The battle to climb all the way to P2 from the back feels amazing. A Jaguar 1‑2 doesn’t come around often, and I’m proud to be part of it.

MITCH EVANS
JAGUAR TCS RACING DRIVER #9

Today was a truly special moment for everyone at Jaguar TCS Racing. A 1‑2 finish at the first ever Madrid E‑Prix, is something the whole team can be immensely proud of. António delivered a superb drive under pressure, showing exactly why he’s such an asset to this team, and Mitch’s charge from P16 to P2 was nothing short of exceptional.

These results don’t happen by accident however ‑ they’re the product of meticulous preparation, bold strategy, and a team that believes in each other. We’ve built strong momentum in the opening phase of the season, and performances like today’s show what we’re capable of when everything comes together.

ABOUT JAGUAR TCS RACING

Jaguar returned to racing in October 2016, becoming the first luxury manufacturer to join the all‑electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

Since then, Jaguar TCS Racing has taken more than 20 race victories and over 50 podium finishes in Formula E, and secured the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturer’s Trophy in 2024 – Jaguar’s first World Championship win since 1991.

Last season, competing in the all‑new GEN3 Evo era, Jaguar TCS Racing debuted its most advanced and efficient Formula E race car – the Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 – and took six race wins across the 2024/25 campaign. This is the most victories the British team has taken across a single season since joining the championship nine years ago.

Jaguar TCS Racing has a new driver pairing for the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season. Mitch Evans – who has taken the joint‑highest number of victories in Formula E history whilst driving with Jaguar – will team up with Season 6 Formula E champion António Félix da Costa for the forthcoming campaign. The British team will be led by new Team Principal Ian James, who has previously overseen two Drivers’ and Teams’ ABB FIA Formula E World Championship victories for the Mercedes‑EQ Formula E Team and led NEOM McLaren to their historic first Formula E win in 2024.

Jaguar TCS Racing have also confirmed a long‑term commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship by signing to participate in the GEN4 era, set to commence in 2026 and running through seasons 13‑16.

Beyond its all‑electric concept, Formula E is unique in the world of motorsport for its choice of venues. The 2025/26 World Championship will see many events take place on temporary street circuits in the centre of the world’s major cities including, São Paulo, Jeddah, Tokyo and Monaco. Additional new venues include Miami and Madrid, with the season finale again set to play out across a double‑header race weekend in London.

As an official manufacturer team in Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing designs its own powertrain, which includes the motor generator unit, transmission, inverter, and rear suspension. Jaguar, via its long‑term Formula E technical partner Fortescue Zero, will also supply Envision Racing with its powertrain for the GEN3 Evo era.

To control costs, the carbon fibre chassis and battery are common components and the same for all teams. This allows the focus to be on developing efficient and lightweight electric vehicle powertrains which will improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.

Formula E remains a key priority for JLR and the company’s Reimagine strategy. As the premier all‑electric world championship, Formula E allows the team to test and develop new electric vehicle technologies in a high‑performance environment. It continues to be the test bed for the team’s Race to Innovate mission that will see Race to Road and Road to Race learnings that will help shape Jaguar’s all‑electric future.

Through our Race to Inspire mission, Jaguar TCS Racing are committed to inspiring the future generation by using the race programme to create a positive impact on our planet and the communities in which we race. From competing in the world’s first net zero carbon race car to supporting and training the next generation of engineers and motorsport professionals.
