PRE-RACE MEDIA ADVISORY 2024 ABB FIA FORMULA E WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: R9 & R10, BERLIN, 11 & 12 MAY

7 May 2024

Jaguar TCS Racing currently lead the Teams’ Championship with 172 points, with Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans second and fifth respectively in the drivers’ standings.

The Berlin E‑Prix proved to be a strong circuit for Jaguar’s powertrain and drivers last season. Mitch headed home a 1‑2 for Jaguar TCS Racing in the first of last year’s Berlin races, with Nick (driving for Jaguar customer team, Envision Racing) winning the second race.

Sheldon van der Linde will return to track for the Official Rookie Test in Berlin on Monday 13 May, alongside Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi who will get behind the wheel of the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 for the first time.

The 2024 SUN Minimeal Berlin E‑Prix starts at 15:03 CEST (BST +1 hour) on both Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 April.

Coming off the back of our historic 1‑2 result in Monaco, the team have been working hard to ensure we can build on this momentum over the remainder of the season.

Next up is Berlin, a destination Formula E has visited in every season since inception, but this year the Tempelhof layout will be all‑new, which will test teams and drivers. Last season, Berlin saw Jaguar TCS Racing record our first 1‑2 finish, so we are optimistic for two strong races but know it will be a challenging double header weekend.

We are also looking forward to having Sheldon van de Linde returning to join us for the rookie Test on Monday, with an exciting new rookie, Enzo Fittipaldi joining us for the first time.

James Barclay
Managing Director, JLR Motorsport and Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal:

Our 1‑2 in Monaco was an incredibly proud moment both for me personally, and for the team. It remains tight at the top of both the teams’ and the drivers’ World Championships, so our attention now shifts to Berlin. It’s a circuit we know well, and last year saw positive results for me, Nick, and for the Jaguar powertrain, so we’ll keep pushing this weekend and give it everything we have.

Mitch Evans
Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #9:

Following on from our incredible result in Monaco, the team have been working hard to set us up for another successful weekend. Berlin is a fun track ‑ Mitch and I both won here last year, and I’m looking forward to getting out on track to aim to repeat last year’s results.

Nick Cassidy
Jaguar TCS Racing driver, #37

I’m very excited to get back for my fourth test with the Jaguar TCS Racing team within one year – I feel a bit of a veteran! Formula E is such an exciting series to be racing in, one I hope to be competing in in the future, so hopefully this is a stepping stone to that opportunity.

Sheldon van der Linde
Jaguar TCS Racing rookie driver

This will be my first time driving a Formula E race car and I am really looking forward to the opportunity. I’ve spent some time in the simulator at the team’s headquarters in Kidlington to give myself the best chance to have a successful test in Berlin. The rookie test is a great opportunity for young drivers to try an all‑electric motorsport category and I can’t wait to get some experience.

Enzo Fittipaldi
Jaguar TCS Racing rookie driver

ABOUT JAGUAR TCS RACING

Jaguar returned to racing in October 2016, becoming the first luxury manufacturer to join the all‑electric ABB FIA Formula E Championship street racing series.

In the 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Jaguar TCS Racing finished runners‑up with 292 points – the team’s biggest points haul in Formula E.

Mitch Evans finished third in the 2023 Drivers’ World Championship with 197 points, his biggest points haul in Formula E, and continues to compete for the team in 2024. Nick Cassidy joins the team’s driver line‑up for the 2024 season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The 2023 season saw all teams race with the Gen3 car, the world’s first net zero race car. Jaguar TCS Racing continues to race with the Jaguar I‑TYPE 6 in 2024.

Beyond its all‑electric concept, Formula E is unique in the world of motorsport for its choice of venues. The 2024 world championship will take place on existing tracks and temporary street circuits in the centre of the world’s major cities including Mexico City, Diriyah and Monaco, with new locations including Tokyo and Shanghai. The season finale will play out across a double‑header race weekend in London.

As an official manufacturer team in Formula E, Jaguar TCS Racing designs its own powertrain, which includes the motor, transmission, inverter, and rear suspension. Jaguar, via its long‑term Formula E technical partner Fortescue WAE, will supply Envision Racing with its powertrain for the Gen3 era.

To control costs, the carbon fibre chassis and battery are common components and the same for all eleven teams. This allows the focus to be on developing efficient and lightweight electric vehicle powertrains which will improve the performance and range of future JLR electric vehicles.

Formula E remains a key priority for JLR and the company’s Reimagine strategy. As the premier all‑electric world championship, Formula E allows the team to test and develop new electric vehicle technologies in a high‑performance environment. It continues to be the test bed for the team’s Race to Innovate mission that will see Race to Road and Road to Race learnings that will help shape the electric future – a future that Jaguar is passionate about, and dedicated to for the benefit of our society, the changing landscape of mobility, sustainability and our clients.

Through our Race to Inspire mission, Jaguar TCS Racing are committed to inspiring the future generation by using the race programme to create a positive impact on our planet and the communities in which we race. From competing in the world’s first net carbon race car to supporting and training the next generation of engineers and motorsport professionals.
