05 August 2020, Berlin, Germany:

The Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY returned to Berlin today in the first of seven races with a reverse circuit layout for the ‘Lockdown Showdown’ to complete season two of the series.

ZEG iCarros Jaguar Brazil racer Cacá Bueno used his exceptional qualifying performance to lead from lights-to-flag - a dominant drive after a five month pause from electric touring car racing.

Sérgio Jimenez, currently leading the series, now has a fight on his hands following a battle with Simon Evans after finishing today’s Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY race in P4, just behind his series contender from New Zealand.

Nick Foster took the fight to the established field with a stellar debut drive to finish just 3.5 seconds behind Bueno in P2 for Jaguar China Racing despite a damaged rear diffuser from early contact with the wall.

I’m really happy with this win. I’ve fulfilled my goal to take pole position and then the victory. By doing this I’ve managed to reduce the difference in points between myself and Sergio - my teammate and leader of the championship - but the most important thing is that we have been very fast in these first two days. It’s only the first of seven, now we have to focus on tomorrow and keep the momentum up each day!

Cacá Bueno
ZEG iCarros Jaguar Brazil Driver

It’s great to finish P2 today in Berlin – I am feeling stoked. It was my first-time using ATTACK MODE so I am getting to grips with that. I am super pleased to hold off Simon and Sergio. Glad my little scrap with the wall didn’t affect me even though it sounded bad with the rear hanging off. I can’t wait until tomorrow’s race.

Nick Foster
Jaguar China Racing Driver

It feels good to see the I-PACE eTROPHY competitors back racing today after such a long pause. Cacá was flawless today and a very strong performance from Nick Foster will keep everyone guessing regarding the Championship win. We are grateful to all who have made it possible to race at Tempelhof circuit today and look forward to getting back out again tomorrow.

ABOUT JAGUAR I-PACE eTROPHY

After becoming the first premium manufacturer to enter the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in 2016, Jaguar created the world’s first all-electric touring car race series for a production car – the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY.

Exclusively featuring Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY racecars, the all-electric series gives drivers of the future and established racers a chance to showcase their talent, competing on the world stage in zero-emissions motorsport. After making history in the inaugural season, the groundbreaking series will see up to 20 identical Jaguar I-PACE battery electric racecars on the grid in 10 races, across eight global cities.

New for season two is the introduction of ATTACK MODE providing an extra 20% in torque and power for a specified duration (defined at race) providing increased race strategy and additional overtaking opportunities.

The series supports the launch of the Jaguar I-PACE, Jaguar’s first battery electric vehicle, and reinforces Jaguar Land Rover’s future electrification strategy, commitment to electric street racing and the team’s mission of ‘Fearless Progress’.

Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY partners include official tyre supplier Michelin, official charging partner ABB, technical partner Sabelt, official clothing supplier One All Sports, official racewear supplier Alpine Stars and official logistics partner DHL.
