The first ever Jaguar I‑PACE eTROPHY champion, Sérgio Jimenez, finished the season in style with a lights to flag victory in New York.
In the fight for best of the rest, Jimenez’s Brazilian teammate, Cacá Bueno, brought his Jaguar I‑PACE home in second position to secure second place in the PRO championship.
New Zealander, Simon Evans, started in third but lost a position in the first lap to Katherine Legge. Legge’s teammate, Bryan Sellers benefited from her podium finish and sweetened what had been a tough race weekend for the American. Sellers crossed the line in fifth, which was enough to finish third in the PRO Championship.
It was nice to finish on top in the last race. What I did today – and this weekend ‑ was to show everyone that Jaguar Brazil are deserved winners. The all‑electric I‑PACE is very different to drive, but you have to learn how it runs and I have worked on that throughout the season.
Sérgio Jimenez
Jaguar I‑PACE eTROPHY champion
We have all made history in this championship. It’s an amazing feeling to be a part of it. I didn’t start very well this season. I had some unlucky races, like in Rome or Mexico and made mistakes in Paris and I paid the price. I had a very good second half of the championship, but Sérgio Jimenez had a lot more chances to win the championship than me and I’m happy for him. I finished twice but I didn’t lose the championship here this weekend.
Cacá Bueno
Jaguar Brazil Racing driver
Saudi Racing has had a successful final race of the year, with Ahmed Bin‑Khanen leading his class for the whole race and achieving third in the PRO‑AM Championship. His teammate and PRO‑AM Champion, Bandar Alesayi, also made third place on the podium during the final race.
Yaqi Zhang, driver for Team China, has cause for celebration. After 10 races in the Jaguar I‑PACE eTROPHY, the Chinese driver secured his eighth podium, making the second step this time out as well as cementing runner up in the PRO‑AM Championship.
This signifies the end to the first season of the Jaguar I‑PACE eTROPHY, the world’s first all‑electric support series for production based cars. Preparations for season two are well underway, with the calendar for season two due to be announced shortly.
Congratulations to Sergio and Bandar our eTROPHY champions. It has been a successful first season and we have created history with the first all‑electric international series for production‑based cars. I would like to thank everyone in the team for their hard work, all our partners and our friends at Formula E. We’ve learned a lot in our first year and have some exciting plans for season two.
