Saturday 15 July 2017, New York City:

Panasonic Jaguar Racing helped make history today in the Big Apple, with Adam Carroll finishing in the points in P10, in the first electric street race to take place within the five boroughs of New York City.

The Qualcomm New York City ePrix took place before a capacity crowd, racing in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn, with the iconic Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty in the background.

Adam and Mitch qualified alongside each other in P13 and P14 respectively. The Northern Irishman gained three positions in a frantic race to finish in P10, adding to the tally of 21 championship points for the British team.

Mitch Evans was caught up in a first lap collision on the tight Brooklyn circuit, sustaining suspension damage, which forced him to pit early to change to his second Jaguar I‑TYPE racecar. The New Zealander reset his sights on setting the fastest lap.  He missed out but gained valuable data, which the team can put into practice for tomorrow’s second race.

Considering the changeable weather in the run up to the race, we are happy to add to our overall points haul and continue to progress in our learning year.”

“Mitch was unlucky to be caught up in the concertina of cars entering the first corner.  Adam showed his experience today, fighting a tough but clean race and bringing home a solid result to open this weekend’s double‑header campaign.  We have some repairs to carry out overnight but will be ready to race again tomorrow.”

Adam Carroll, #47: “That was a wild race and must have been thrilling for the fans.  It was exciting in the cockpit too! I’m delighted to add to Jaguar’s points. We have worked so hard to learn as much as possible in our first season in this very competitive championship. We can savour the point after the weekend but now it is time to sit down with the engineers and prepare for the longer race tomorrow.”

Mitch Evans, #20: “It’s a shame to suffer from a collision that I couldn’t avoid but I’m glad that we have opened the weekend with a point. I worked hard with my engineers to try to set the fastest lap, which we know from previous races we are capable of, but it wasn’t to be today. We’ve learned more about the track and I’m going to reset overnight and come back tomorrow ready to go again.”

The second race of this weekend’s double‑header takes place tomorrow Sunday with an earlier start time of 13:00 ET/13:00 BST.
