Brazilian Sérgio Jimenez is the inaugural Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY champion, having tied up the championship with victory in Race 1 in New York’s end of season double header.
With eight podiums so far this season, the Brazilian’s consistency is a huge factor behind his success. His teammate, Cacá Bueno, made Round 9 even sweeter for Jaguar Brazil Racing, securing second spot and giving the team its third 1-2 of the season.

We are making history here. We are racing the world's first all-electric production based international race series. In the books of motorsport history, I will be there as the first champion.
It was a tough championship up against some brilliant contenders. For me, my consistency this season has been key and helped me to win. Even when I wasn’t fast, I still ensured I scored points and sometimes even podiums. My worst position all season was fourth. In Hong Kong I started last and still ended up on podium, this is where I won the championship.

The man hot on the heels of Jimenez, Bryan Sellers, was unable to take the fight to the Brazilian during Round 9 having crashed in qualifying three hours earlier, leaving damage too significant to fix ahead of the race.
As soon as I initially hit the wall in qualifying I came into the pits and it looked to be just cosmetic damage. However, on the next lap out I was trying to set up my next qualifying run and I had some sort of failure on the front and ultimately that is what caused the hard crash
I feel terrible to have put everybody in this position but thankful to everyone who helped try and get the car fixed again. At this moment, I am just as gutted for them as I am for myself.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver
Simon Evans finished third in New York in Race 1 and now has a chance to leapfrog Sellers into third place in tomorrow’s finale on the streets of Red Hook, Brooklyn.
Having led the PRO-AM championship since Round 1, Bandar Alesayi finally secured the championship title in the first race in the New York double header. Alesayi’s qualifying performance is one of his strongest assets, having qualified on pole six times this season.

I’m so happy how the season went. This is the first time I have done street racing, and I feel like I have been improving every race, getting closer to the walls. I’ve learnt so much and I can’t wait for the final race tomorrow knowing I am champion of the PRO-AM category.
